Slower days · Natural ways
Old Indian home rituals for a modern, chemical-free life. Made by hand, shared with love.
Welcome to Apothecary by Sona
A space for anyone who longs for a simpler, more natural and more intentional way of living.
Here we explore traditional wisdom, herbal ways, seasonal living and the quiet joy of a kinder home. Nothing here asks you to change everything at once. Take one recipe, one habit, one small ritual, and let it become yours.
Sometimes the most productive thing you can do is slow down.
A note from the kitchenHi, I'm Sona
Old ways, carried across an ocean and brought into a slower, chemical-free life.
Jammu to California
Old wisdom. New days. A kinder you.
The heart of itI grew up in Jammu, India, and now I live in California.
When I moved, I realised how much everyday wisdom I had carried with me without noticing. The way my family cared for the home, for each other and for themselves was never called "wellness". It was simply how life was lived.
Apothecary by Sona is where I'm bringing those old ways back into my own life, slowly and honestly, and moving toward a simpler, chemical-free home. I'm learning as I go, and sharing every recipe along the way.
This isn't about perfection, fear of modern life, or turning every tradition into a rule. It's about learning, choosing carefully, and finding a rhythm that feels more human.
The shelves
Every jar on these shelves holds something worth slowing down for.

The kitchen changes when the light changes. We let our routines change with it.
A year in the kitchen
Seasonal living doesn't mean changing your whole life every few months. It begins with noticing the light, the weather, what's growing, and the small changes around the home.
Slow simmering pots, warming spices, and a cup held in both hands.
Grounding food, long evenings, and recipes made to be shared.
Lighter meals, first herbs from the garden, windows open again.
Cooling drinks, flowers in every jar, rituals for long, warm days.
My first book
Recipes from an Indian kitchen, written down so they can be made anywhere.

Coming soonThe herbal library
A growing library of plants, herbs and traditional ingredients.
Plants, herbs & ingredients
What each plant is, what it has traditionally been used for, how it's prepared, and when to take care.
| Herb | Scientific name | Traditionally used for | How it's used | Take care |
|---|
Traditional use is shared as context, not proof, and nothing here is medical advice. Patch-test anything new, and check with your doctor if you're pregnant, on medication or have a health condition.

When the shop opens, it will hold a few things made the same way the recipes are: by hand, with care, and without shortcuts.
Made a little at a time, so everything is fresh when it reaches you.
Plants, flowers and spices you can recognise, with nothing hidden on the label.
Paper, glass and twine, wrapped by hand in my kitchen.
